We engaged James in Q3 2025 to carry out a series of critical repairs across our home, deck, and outbuilding, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every respect.

The house works alone were complex, involving roof leak investigation, remediation of 10+ year significant water damage, subfloor replacement, and coordination with structural builders to replace an external load-bearing beam supporting the rear of the property. Throughout this process, James demonstrated an exceptional ability to identify and solve issues as they arose, making practical decisions on the spot to ensure the project stayed on schedule and within the agreed cost. At the same time, while we undertook other non-trade tasks ourselves, James was always willing to step in, offer guidance, and lend a hand when we became stuck—something that made a real difference to progress and outcomes of the entire project, not just James’s work. He then completed the reinstatement including flooring, gyprock, sliding doors, and window architraves to a high standard of finish.

The deck and outbuilding were equally substantial projects. James replaced water-damaged deck posts, beams, joists, steps, and boards with a completely new timber structure, and rebuilt the outbuilding roof and guttering system, integrating a water tank and improved water management. He also enhanced the outbuilding’s usability by installing louvre windows to improve cross-ventilation. Although these were three separate projects, James managed them consecutively and, when required, concurrently— adjusting schedules efficiently when issues arose.

His estimates were accurate, pricing fair, and time management excellent. We couldn’t recommend James highly enough to anyone looking to repair or modify an existing building with confidence and professionalism.
